Pretty Pumpkin – When the weather starts to get colder in autumn and the first pumpkin stews appear on the table, this “warm-your-heart” spice blend should not be missing.
Pretty Pumpkin also works wonderfully with parsnips, turnips and hearty stews made with pork, dried fruit and nuts.
Ingredients
- 5–6 cardamom pods
- 6 allspice berries
- 3 tbsp ground ginger
- 2 tbsp cinnamon
- 1 tsp cayenne pepper
- 4–5 cloves
Toast the cardamom, cloves and allspice, then grind them. Let the spices cool, mix them thoroughly with the remaining spices, and store the blend in an airtight container.
