Tinto de verano – Spanish summer wine. Rather unknown in Germany, except among holidaymakers in Spain. The latter also often drink sangria, which certainly has similarities with Tinto de verano.
For lemonade, I recommend Gaseosa, which you can get in any supermarket in Spain. It tastes lemony and fresh. Here in Germany, you can still get the old lemonade. This also fits quite well. In my opinion, Sprite doesn’t taste quite as good. If you use Sprite, you should definitely add the juice of 1-2 lemons.
Ingredients
4 oranges
1 bottle of red wine
1 bottle of lemonade (Gaseosa)
Squeeze the oranges and pour the juice into a suitable carafe with the red wine and lemonade.
Chill the Tinto de verano
Serve
Serve the Tinto de verano with ice cubes in the glass, in the carafe and additionally in a bowl to take away. Pair with tapas, grilled food and a nice evening out.
P.S.: The Spaniards also drink it at lunchtime.
Variations
Blanco de verano
Ginto de verano – when it’s getting late
Sangria with gin
