Grandmothers pasta salad

Grandmothers pasta salad, one of, if not THE best pasta salads ever.

Which pasta for pasta salad?

Which pasta you use for your pasta salad is up to you. I swear by girandole, fusilli or gemelli. Others like to use farfalle or gobbetti. My mother-in-law, who gave me the recipe, uses gabelletti. Anything goes. The important thing is that the pasta is not too slippery, so that you can take some ingredients along with the sauce.

Ingredients

250 g noodles (Gabelletti)
100 g meat sausage, cooked ham or cold roast meat
1 tin of sliced mushrooms
1 jar of pickled gherkins
3 apples
1/2 lemon
3 tbsp oil
1 jar of capers
1 tsp vegetable stock (my mother-in-law uses Fondor here)
300 g mayonnaise
n. B. poultry sausage
3 tbsp cucumber liquid

Boil the noodles to 4/5 of the indicated cooking time and drain. Please do not rinse with water as described in some recipes. The starch coat that makes the sauce stick will otherwise be lost.

Cut the cucumbers and meat sausage (ham, roast) into small cubes.

Mix the mayonnaise, cucumber water, spices and capers in a bowl and add to the pasta. Add the cucumber and the sausage (ham, roast) to the pasta and mix all the ingredients together.

You can also add peas or kidney beans. You can also add tuna, but then I would leave out the sausage.

Leave to marinate

This pasta salad, like any other party salad, is best left to infuse for 3-4 hours.

Pasta salad goes well with

As a side dish, pasta salad goes very well with bratwurst or other grilled meat dishes.
